Job Description
Description:
The Backwaiter position is an hourly role and serves as the primary support to captains. This role is the secondary point of contact for guests and while dining in our spaces and assists in facilitating their experience. They should be a master of their role and excel in team work, service techniques, and attention to detail.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Hospitality Leadership: Act as an ambassador of the restaurant by consistently upholding high service standards and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
- Service Support: Assist servers and bartenders to ensure seamless execution of the steps of service, maintaining efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Cleanliness & Setup: Complete all opening and closing checklists thoroughly, ensuring cleanliness and organization of front-of-house spaces. Confirm tasks are verified by a manager.
- Inventory & Restocking: Monitor and replenish service stations, silverware, and glassware throughout the shift to ensure smooth operations.
- Team Communication: Participate in regular manager meetings to review personal performance, evaluate adherence to service protocols, and collaborate on improvement plans.
- Standards & Accountability: Maintain consistency in presentation, cleanliness, and support of the FOH team, contributing to operational excellence.
Personal Requirements:
- Be an ambassador for the company and maintain professionalism in and outside of work.
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A genuine passion for locally sourced products and culinary offerings is advantageous.
- TABC and Texas Food Handler Certificate required.
Working Conditions:
- A typical work week for this position is 40-45 hours. Hours vary based on needs of the market and the department.
- Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting objects up to 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- Exposure to hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment is possible.
- Familiarity with office equipment such as phones, computers, fax machines, and copiers may be required.
