Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer with PHP (Symfony) expertise and working experience in Node.js to join our distributed, international team.
Our current backend infrastructure is built on PHP, but we have an active roadmap to migrate toward Node.js. You will work alongside an embedded Node.js expert, helping maintain and develop our existing PHP ecosystem while actively contributing to the Node.js migration as it progresses. This is a fully backend-focused role requiring seamless daily communication in English.
Key ResponsibilitiesFeature Development & Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs using PHP (Symfony).
Support the Migration Roadmap: Actively contribute to migrating legacy PHP services over to Node.js, collaborating closely with the team’s dedicated Node.js engineer.
Code Quality & Architecture: Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code. Participate in code reviews to ensure high technical standards across both stacks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work within a distributed, international team of developers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver impactful features.
System Optimization: Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend performance and database queries to ensure scalability.
PHP Expertise: Professional experience with PHP, specifically using the Symfony framework.
Node.js Experience: Working knowledge of Node.js. You don't need to lead the migration, but you must be strong enough to pick up tickets, write backend logic, and contribute to the Node.js codebase.
Database Management: Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and understanding of data modeling.
API Design: Experience designing and implementing robust RESTful APIs.
Modern DevOps Tools: Familiarity with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
Good English: You will be collaborating daily in English with a global team.
Adaptability: A transition mindset - someone who is comfortable bridging the gap between two different backend ecosystems.
Remote Work Champion: Proven ability to work autonomously and effectively within a distributed, asynchronous team environment.
