Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Billing Systems Engineer based in the United States.
You will join a high-growth, developer-first environment where billing is treated as a core engineering system rather than a back-office function. In this role, you will be responsible for rebuilding and owning the end-to-end billing infrastructure that powers complex, usage-based pricing at scale. You will design and implement the systems that connect product usage data to billing, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and financial integrity across all transactions. This is a deeply technical position requiring strong engineering skills, with ownership over integrations, data pipelines, and billing platform architecture. You will collaborate closely with Finance, RevOps, and Analytics teams to define reliable data contracts and ensure billing outputs are always correct and auditable. The environment is fast-moving and highly collaborative, where engineers are expected to ship quickly while maintaining production-grade rigor. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building foundational systems that directly impact revenue and scalability.
- Own the design and rebuild of the end-to-end billing system, including CPQ workflows, quote-to-cash processes, billing platform integration, and ERP synchronization.
- Build and maintain robust integrations between product usage events and billing systems to ensure accurate, auditable metered and consumption-based billing.
- Establish engineering best practices for billing infrastructure, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and observability.
- Partner with Finance, RevOps, and Analytics teams to define data contracts, validate billing outputs, and ensure financial accuracy across systems.
- Design systems that support evolving pricing models, new product offerings, and increasing scale without fragile or manual interventions.
- Implement strong change management practices, including rollback strategies, audit trails, and controlled deployments for billing-critical systems.
- Monitor and continuously improve billing system reliability, data integrity, and performance under production-grade requirements.
- Strong hands-on experience building and owning integrations across CPQ, billing platforms (e.g., Metronome, Orb, Chargebee), and ERP systems.
- Proven ability to engineer end-to-end data flows rather than simply configuring billing tools.
- Deep understanding of quote-to-cash processes and real-world failure points in billing systems.
- Strong software engineering skills with experience building production-grade systems with CI/CD, testing, and observability.
- Experience working with usage-based, consumption-based, or event-driven billing models.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate in finance-grade accuracy environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to quickly learn new tools, languages, and systems.
- Experience building or re-architecting billing systems from the ground up is a strong plus.
- Competitive salary aligned with experience and industry benchmarks.
- Equity package offering long-term ownership in a high-growth company.
- Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Flexible vacation policy with strong emphasis on work-life balance.
- Opportunity to work on core infrastructure powering large-scale, real-time systems.
- Collaborative environment with a small, senior engineering team focused on craft and impact.
- High autonomy and ownership over mission-critical financial systems.
