Job Description – Registration Specialist


General Description

The Registration Specialist works directly with Premier Community HealthCare patients to complete the registration process and verify insurance eligibility prior to scheduled appointments. This role collaborates closely with the Billing Department to ensure patient questions and concerns are addressed promptly while helping maintain accurate patient information and insurance records.

The Registration Specialist serves as a subject matter expert for patient registration processes and plays a vital role in improving patient satisfaction, reducing claim denials, increasing registration accuracy, and supporting a positive patient experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration for scheduled appointments
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary information prior to patient visits
• Contact patients to collect and confirm demographic and insurance information
• Scan and upload eligibility verification documentation into appropriate electronic records
• Verify Sliding Fee Discount Program eligibility for qualified patients
• Collaborate with the Billing Department to address patient billing questions and concerns
• Provide guidance and support to front office staff regarding walk-in and same-day appointment registration procedures
• Escalate patient complaints, registration issues, and complex billing concerns to leadership as appropriate
• Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, providing general information and directing calls as needed
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
• Communicate issues that may impact patient flow or registration processes
• Support Premier’s mission, community outreach efforts, and quality improvement initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation
• Basic mathematical skills
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to obtain and maintain Epic certification and complete annual compliance requirements

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly and 30–50 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Direct exposure to computer screens
• Possible exposure to contagious or infectious diseases

Background Screening Requirement

This position requires a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
