Job Description

Job Summary

The Director of Outpatient Rehabilitative Services directs the operational, budgetary and personnel activities of the Outpatient Rehabilitative Services Department. Develops services, policies, procedures, resource plans, and coordinates department programs, services and activities with other departments and services to meet overall hospital goals and objectives. Responsible for management and supervision of department staff.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Work Experience:

Five years of experience in a clinical or rehabilitative setting (physical therapy, occupational therapy speech therapy). Five years of management experience required.

License/Registration/Certification:

Current license to practice in Texas in discipline-specific (SLP, OT, PT, LPTA, COTA).

Current BLS training required.

Education and Training:

Graduate degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program is required. Master’s degree in Business Administration required for LPTA or COTA.

  1. Ability to plan and execute a full range of administrative tasks in operating a large and complex department.
  2. Ability to analyze complex problems and situations and realize potential effects of proposed actions.
  3. Knowledge of budget preparations, purchasing bookkeeping and personnel management.
  4. Knowledgeable of case management or social work principles and standard practices.
  5. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  6. Strong analytical and data management skills.
  7. Knowledgeable of community resources.
  8. Develops effective working relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary team.
  9. Works well with people of all social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  10. Flexible, open-minded and adaptable to change.
  11. Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with ability to convey understanding progress of complex issues.
  12. Leadership and training skills.
  13. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  14. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, culturally sensitive.
