PRN
On an as needed basis (8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday)
The Shuttle Bus Driver will be responsible for picking up and dropping off patients from set locations on Rush Memorial Hospital campus. The Shuttle Bus Driver will ensure friendly service, safety, and shuttle cleanliness at all times. This Shuttle Bus Driver will also assist with EMS transfers if needed
Requirements:Knowledge & Experience
Skills-
- Valid Indiana drivers license required and a clear record.
- Great written and verbal communication skills; must comply with all safety regulations.
- The employee must be 21 or older to drive RMH vehicles and have a driving record that is eligible to meet the satisfactory driving record standard conducted during the background check to be eligible for the position.
- The applicant's job offer is contingent on eligibility and if the applicant does not have a valid driver's license or has a driving record that falls at or below the criteria, the applicant will not be hired for positions where driving is an essential job function.
Knowledge-
- Safe loading and unloading procedures.
- Road safety and regulations.
Education-
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have completed "For Hire" with BMV to be qualified for this position.
Experience-
- Previous bus and or shuttle experience preferred.
Authority and Accountability
- Good working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work with, communicate with and properly handle different types of people.
Aptitudes
- Must be able to plan, organize, direct and delegate within the department in the absence of the Manager.

ACCOUNTABILITY
- Reports to the Transportation Coordinator.
- Must work closely with Emergency Department employees and all hospital staff.
- Responsible for the daily operation of the shuttle in the absence of the Coordinator.
QUALITY ASSURANCE-KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures daily shuttle checks are completed and documented.
- Ensures the safety and wellbeing of patients being transported.
- Ensures and documents sufficient daily fuel levels.
- Ensures shuttle is clean inside and outside.
- Monitors shuttle shelters and notification system.
- Ensures all maintenance concerns are brought to the attention of the Transportation Coordinator.
- Performs all other duties assigned by the Transportation Coordinator.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Maintains effective channels of communication with the Transportation Coordinator and other staff.
- Takes appropriate action in problem situations to offset adverse effects.
- Projects a professional and positive attitude regarding the Hospital.
LEADERSHIP
- Conducts self in professional manner acting as a role model while practicing and promoting effective guest relations.
- Observes Hospital dress guidelines and wears ID Badge.
- Attends mandatory meetings and educational trainings.
- Provides proper notification for absence and tardiness and is punctual for start of scheduled time.
- Participates in emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures and internal/external disaster plans and procedures in accordance with departmental responsibilities.
- Complies with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
- Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement Program under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator to meet stated goals and objectives of the Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
- Assists in data collection.
- Brings concerns to Manager's attention and suggests solutions to problems.
- Emphasizes, supports and is committed to CQI practices and processes.
- Takes actin to assure CQI within areas of responsibility.
