This role is a high-impact fractional CFO position supporting a diverse portfolio of small and mid-sized businesses in their financial strategy and growth journey. You will act as a trusted financial advisor, helping clients improve visibility, strengthen cash flow management, and make data-driven decisions. Operating in a fully remote environment, you will engage with business leaders across industries such as e-commerce, tech startups, and service-based companies. The role blends strategic advisory work with hands-on financial leadership, requiring both analytical depth and strong business acumen. You will collaborate closely with internal accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting and seamless client delivery. This is a client-facing leadership role where adaptability, communication, and strategic thinking are essential.
- Lead financial strategy, forecasting, and long-term planning for a portfolio of small and mid-sized business clients
- Develop, maintain, and monitor budgets as well as 13-week rolling cash flow models
- Deliver monthly financial reporting, insights, and executive-level analysis to support decision-making
- Serve as a strategic advisor to clients during periods of growth, stabilization, and operational change
- Identify financial risks, opportunities, and compliance considerations to improve business performance
- Partner with client leadership teams to support growth initiatives, operational efficiency, and profitability improvement
- Collaborate with internal accounting teams to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality financial deliverables
- Monitor client engagement health and recommend additional services or support when needed
- Manage multiple client relationships simultaneously while ensuring consistent service quality and responsiveness
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business; CPA, MBA, or equivalent advanced qualification preferred
- 6–8 years of experience in a CFO, fractional CFO, or senior strategic finance leadership role
- Strong ability to oversee and interpret full-cycle accounting while operating at a strategic advisory level
- Proficiency with financial and business systems such as QuickBooks Online, Fathom, Shopify, Cin7, Amazon, or similar platforms
- Experience advising small and mid-sized businesses, particularly in e-commerce, retail, creative services, or tech startups
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax considerations, and small business financial dynamics
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights
