Commercial Electrical Technician – Evening Shift
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Job Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: 2nd Shift
Pay: Starting at $27.00/hour or higher depending on experience
About the Role
An established commercial services team is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to support installation, repair, and maintenance operations on active commercial job sites throughout the Virginia Beach area. This position is primarily field-based and requires someone who is dependable, safety-focused, and experienced working in fast-paced construction or service environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, experience interpreting electrical plans, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Primary Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair commercial electrical systems and components
- Diagnose electrical issues and complete troubleshooting efficiently
- Perform upgrades and modifications to existing electrical infrastructure
- Bend, route, and install conduit using both manual and powered tools
- Support layout planning and installation processes for long-term functionality
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings
- Utilize common electrical and construction tools including drills, knockout sets, threaders, and cable pullers
- Complete required documentation, reports, and work orders accurately
- Maintain organized and safe work areas at all times
- Travel between local project sites as needed
- Work from ladders, lifts, or elevated areas when required
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining workmanship standards
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and job site regulations including lockout/tagout and confined space protocols
- Assist with troubleshooting related systems such as HVAC or refrigeration equipment when necessary
- Participate in ongoing safety and technical training
- Contribute positively to team operations and maintain professionalism on-site
- Journeyman-level field experience in commercial electrical work
- Minimum of 4 years of commercial electrical installation and troubleshooting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, industry standards, and safe work practices
- Ability to independently perform conduit bending and installation
- Experience working with standard electrical hand tools and power equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in field environments
- Exposure to HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems
- Experience supporting multiple commercial projects simultaneously
- Background in commercial construction, maintenance, or service environments
- Completion of required safety certifications and site-specific compliance training
- Willingness to participate in continued technical and operational development programs
