This executive leadership role sits at the intersection of scientific strategy, client services, and commercial growth within the life sciences communications space. You will define and drive the strategic vision for a portfolio of medical communications teams supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. The role combines high-level account leadership, scientific oversight, and operational management to ensure delivery of accurate, impactful, and compliant medical content. You will partner closely with senior stakeholders to shape client strategy, strengthen relationships, and expand business opportunities. This position requires a balance of commercial acumen, scientific understanding, and team leadership in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment. As a key member of the executive team, you will influence organizational direction, drive revenue growth, and elevate service quality across all accounts.
- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for account management and medical communications teams, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Oversee development and execution of client account strategies to support life sciences partners in achieving scientific and commercial goals.
- Lead medical writing and scientific teams to ensure the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of all deliverables.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across account, medical, and operational teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial performance to ensure profitability and growth.
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and process improvements.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory, legal, and industry standards across all deliverables.
- Participate in executive-level strategic planning and contribute to long-term business direction and organizational growth.
- 10+ years of experience in commercial account leadership, preferably within medical communications, life sciences, or related industries.
- 5+ years of people management experience, including leadership of senior or cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record in senior executive or director-level roles with responsibility for revenue, client success, and operational performance.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of life sciences industry dynamics, market trends, and competitive landscape.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management experience.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, reporting tools, and business performance tracking platforms.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in complex environments.
- Preferred: advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or related scientific discipline (Master’s, PhD, or PharmD).
