Achilles is recruiting an experienced Manufacturing Buyer for a custom industrial-equipment and fabrication operation in Honey Brook, PA. This is a plant-focused purchasing role for someone who understands the realities of buying materials and components against manufacturing schedules. The right candidate will have direct experience purchasing steel, fabricated components, machining, or other materials used in heavy manufacturing and be comfortable working from bills of material, production requirements, and delivery schedules.

• Purchase raw materials, fabricated components, commodities, and services

• Review work-order bills of material and determine purchasing requirements

• Create and manage purchase orders based on production need dates

• Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, project teams, and operations

• Expedite open purchase orders when needed to protect production schedules

• Monitor vendor delivery performance

• Negotiate competitive pricing and supplier terms

• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships

• Coordinate material availability against manufacturing schedules

• Maintain min/max inventory levels for assigned materials

• Support supplier agreements and sourcing decisions

• Resolve PO and invoice discrepancies with accounting and suppliers

• Coordinate returns and supplier-quality or delivery issues

• Consider freight, lead time, inventory, and total material cost when making purchasing decisions

• Approximately 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience involving steel, metal fabrication, machining, or a closely related manufacturing environment

• Strong manufacturing background

• Experience purchasing from bills of material

• MRP / ERP system experience

• Experience managing suppliers and expediting production-critical materials

• Strong negotiation and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production-driven environment

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

This is not a corporate indirect-procurement position. We are specifically looking for someone comfortable purchasing materials and components that directly support a manufacturing floor. This position is based on-site in Honey Brook, PA.
