Job Description

Principal, Performance Marketing

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal, Performance Marketing based in United States.

This senior individual-contributor role owns the performance standard across a multi-client growth marketing portfolio.
You will monitor account health across multiple teams, identify risks early, and lead strategic interventions when performance declines.
The role combines hands-on paid media expertise with advanced analytics, coaching, and cross-functional influence.
You will work closely with growth leadership and Pod Leads to strengthen campaign strategy, performance quality, and client outcomes.
A key focus will be using AI responsibly to expand account-health monitoring, detect anomalies, and improve diagnostic workflows.
You will operate with significant autonomy, influencing through expertise and clearly defined performance standards rather than direct reporting authority.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced performance marketer who enjoys solving complex problems across a diverse client portfolio.

Accountabilities
  • Own and maintain the performance standard across all active client accounts, establishing clear green, yellow, and red health classifications based on measurable indicators.

  • Lead weekly account-health reviews, providing evidence-based assessments of portfolio performance and identifying emerging risks before they become significant client issues.

  • Monitor account-level KPIs and campaign performance at a granular level to diagnose problems, identify root causes, and determine appropriate next actions.

  • Lead rescue initiatives for at-risk accounts, coordinating analysts, creatives, strategists, and other resources to develop and execute documented recovery plans.

  • Own rescue timelines, performance objectives, follow-through, and outcome tracking for accounts requiring intervention.

  • Coach Pod Leads on performance strategy and paid media craft through specific, data-driven feedback and practical guidance.

  • Partner with growth leadership on team capacity, account expansion opportunities, staffing considerations, and the relationship between resources and performance.

  • Identify recurring performance patterns across the client portfolio and use those insights to improve campaign strategy, processes, and standards.

  • Develop and expand AI-assisted account-health workflows that can improve review coverage, anomaly detection, diagnosis, and follow-through.

  • Pilot AI workflows in controlled or shadow environments, validate outputs against expert judgment, and scale solutions when they demonstrably improve decision quality.

  • Maintain appropriate human oversight for consequential campaign, budget, and client decisions.

  • Establish measurable account-health, rescue, and retention tracking processes and communicate progress to senior leadership.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of hands-on paid media experience across platforms such as Meta, Google, and/or TikTok.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate campaign performance at a detailed level and translate KPI trends into clear diagnoses and actions.

  • Experience building or materially owning a recurring AI-powered workflow using real data, users, appropriate guardrails, and measurable impact.

  • Experience managing or coaching growth marketers or paid media professionals, with the ability to develop performance capabilities in others.

  • Strong analytical instincts and the ability to quickly identify what is happening within an account, why it is happening, and what should be tested or changed first.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-client agency or embedded marketing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of paid media strategy, campaign optimization, performance analytics, and account health management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present account-health findings and facilitate sensitive performance conversations.

  • Ability to influence without formal management authority and establish credibility through expertise, judgment, and consistent standards.

  • Proficiency with ClickUp or similar project management platforms.

  • Hands-on proficiency with Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, and performance analytics platforms.

  • Comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and making decisions in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong judgment when applying AI and automation to marketing workflows, including the ability to balance efficiency with accuracy and human oversight.

Benefits
  • Fully remote position for U.S.-based employees.

  • Full-time employment.

  • Competitive base compensation of $130,000–$200,000.

  • Flexible paid time off.

  • 401(k) plan.

  • Employee benefits package.

  • Opportunity to work across a diverse multi-client performance marketing portfolio.

  • High-autonomy role with direct strategic exposure to growth leadership.

  • Opportunity to shape AI-assisted performance marketing workflows and operational standards.
