Job Description
ERG is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Tax Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the organization’s tax compliance, reporting, planning, and accounting functions while collaborating with internal stakeholders, external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
The Senior Tax Accountant will prepare and review federal, state, and local tax filings; conduct tax research and support strategic tax planning initiatives; assist with audits and examinations; and help ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized professional who can manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate federal, state, and local tax returns and related filings
- Assist with quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations, reporting, and documentation
- Prepare and maintain accurate tax schedules, workpapers, account reconciliations, and disclosures
- Research applicable tax laws, regulations, and guidance to identify potential impacts, risks, and planning opportunities
- Support tax planning initiatives and provide recommendations to management
- Monitor tax filing deadlines, registrations, notices, and other compliance requirements
- Respond to tax notices and coordinate with external tax advisors, as needed
- Support federal, state, and local tax audits by preparing documentation and responding to information requests
- Reconcile tax accounts, investigate variances, and research and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with sales and use tax, payroll tax, property tax, and other applicable tax matters
- Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized tax records and supporting documentation
- Identify and implement improvements to tax processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiencies
- Collaborate with Finance and Accounting team members to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information
- Perform other tax- and accounting-related duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Four to seven years of progressively responsible experience in tax accounting
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax requirements
- Experience with tax preparation, tax provision calculations, account reconciliations, and audit support
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrated professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
- CPA certification preferred
$130,000 - $150,000 a year
