Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Reading Blueprints and Specifications:
- Interpret and comprehend engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the requirements of the project.
- Material Preparation:
- Select and prepare sheet metal materials based on project specifications.
- Use cutting tools such as shears, saws, and lasers to cut sheet metal to the required dimensions.
- Metal Forming:
- Utilize bending machines, brakes, and rollers to shape sheet metal into the desired configurations.
- Ensure precision and accuracy in measurements and angles during the forming process.
- Joining and Assembly:
- Weld, solder, or rivet sheet metal components together to create finished products.
- Verify the accuracy of assemblies and make adjustments as necessary.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and comply with design specifications.
- Address any defects or issues and make necessary corrections.
- Tool Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working condition.
- Report any malfunctions or the need for repairs to the supervisor.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to discuss project requirements and resolve any design or production challenges.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and time spent on each project.
- Provide input for improving fabrication processes and procedures.
- Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in sheet metal fabrication techniques.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
· Proven experience as a sheet metal fabricator.
· Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
· Skilled in using various fabrication tools and equipment, including cutting and bending machines, welding equipment, and measuring instruments.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to adhere to them.
Working Conditions:
This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role may also routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, anything over 50 pounds must use approved apparatus or another person to assist.
· Must be able to bend, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
· Ability to push/pull product on carts, racks, pallets, and shelves.
· Ability to work with temperature fluctuations within the plant dependent on the season.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is also required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on the task being performed. PPE includes, but is not limited to, safety glasses, ear protection, cut resistant gloves and sleeves, hard hat, Tyvek suit, and steel-toed shoes.
