Job Description

Summary/Objective:

The Shipping and Receiving Associate (SRA) packs, and ships customer material components related to production stream consistent with work instructions, specifications and documentation operating within company established systems. Responsible for quality and quantity of goods received, handled, inventoried, packed and shipped.

Essential Functions:

  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling for long periods of time throughout the working day (also lifting of objects up to 50 pounds).

  • Operate safe use of forklifts, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment.

  • May operate tier-lift truck or use hand-truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area.

  • Load and unload trucks.

  • Receive, verify, open, sort and enter logs and inventories supplier and vendor shipments (may receive returned, damaged or defective goods).

  • Maintain shipping materials and supplies.

  • Pack, organize, stack and prepare customer order shipments consistent with the SOP.

  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

  • Ensure parts, labels, material certification and shipping documents are consistent with customer order and packing slip.

  • Maintain a neat, safe and well-organized work area.

  • Ensure merchandise is unloaded, inspected, and accurately matched to purchase and sales orders.

  • Maintain clean movement of materials from receiving and storage areas to shipping or production, ensuring efficiency and safety.

  • Ensure all inbound and outbound shipments meet quality standards and are free of damage.

  • Maintain precise records of all daily receiving and shipping activities in the computer system.

  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Entry level experience.

  • Good organizational and communication skills.

  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office and willing to learn other software programs if needed.

  • Data entry experience.

  • Knowledge in operating a stand-up reach truck.

  • Ability to learn quickly, work reliably and accurately.

  • Contribute to working in a team environment.

  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other health and safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Attention to details to ensure quality of work.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and reach.
