Job Summary:

The Electrical & Controls Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing factory acceptance testing activities for Vitalis equipment. This role ensures equipment is operating safely and as designed while identifying and resolving issues prior to delivery. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams, the Electrical & Controls FAT Specialist supports product quality, drives continuous improvement, and contributes to successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct the electrical and controls portion of Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) on completed refrigeration systems in collaboration with the Manufacturing and Electrical departments.

  • Own the electrical and controls FAT process, including electrical verification, instrumentation validation, controller configuration, functional testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of testing procedures.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Electrical, and Manufacturing throughout the build process to support controller parameterization, perform preliminary electrical and controls verification, and identify issues before formal Factory Acceptance Testing.

  • Perform loop checks and functional testing of electrical systems, instrumentation, sensors, actuators, control hardware, and communication networks to verify proper installation and operation.

  • Identify, document, and report non-conformances, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement, supporting the ECO and NCR processes as required.

  • Provide technical feedback to the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Electrical departments to improve product quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and future product designs.

  • Complete and maintain all required FAT documentation, inspection records, test reports, and quality tracking documents related to electrical and controls testing.

  • Configure, parameterize, and validate controllers, HMIs, instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, VFDs, and other programmable devices required for factory testing.

  • Verify proper operation of control sequences, interlocks, alarms, safety devices, and overall system functionality against project requirements and design intent.

  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, electrical schematics, specifications, applicable electrical standards (CSA, UL, NEC, CEC), and internal quality requirements.

  • Coordinate with customers and Account Managers to resolve electrical and controls issues identified during factory testing that may impact FAT acceptance or project delivery.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Electrical Technologist, Electrician, Instrumentation Technician, or Refrigeration Technician

  • Two or more years of experience in related fields.

  • Ability to read / redline electrical diagrams, panel drawings, P&ID’s

  • Understanding how to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits, and instrumentation

  • Basic networking skills in both serial and ethernet environments

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and take ownership of Factory Acceptance Testing activities.

  • Exposure or working knowledge of refrigeration controllers (Danfoss, Copeland, Microthermo) products would be an asset

  • Experience working at an OEM is considered an asset.

  • Willingness to support and assist in the growth and development of the company

  • Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly evolving and growing environment where responsibilities and position scope may change

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written and a desire to collaborate in a team environment

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
