Job Summary
The Fleet Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and management of the company's specialized fleet, which includes bucket trucks, chippers, and other heavy machinery. Reporting directly to the President, this position involves coordinating vehicle maintenance, tracking usage, and assisting in the scheduling of transportation needs to support our dispersed field crews. The Fleet Assistant works closely with drivers and the President to optimize fleet performance and ensure strict compliance with DOT and CDL regulations, contributing to cost efficiency and the overall mission of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in scheduling regular maintenance and repairs for a specialized fleet to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, maintenance history, and fuel consumption for all trucks and heavy equipment.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations, including DOT and CDL requirements.
- Coordinate with field crews and drivers to manage transportation requests and logistics.
- Prepare reports on fleet performance metrics for the President and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
Required Skills/Education
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing complex schedules and compliance records.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with field crews, drivers, and the President.
- Proven experience in administrative support or a related field.
- Familiarity with DOT and CDL regulations and fleet management software (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance principles.
Physical Requirements
- When on-site, the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, which may be required for handling maintenance materials or supplies.
- When on-site, the ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods to perform vehicle inspections.
- When remote, prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
