About the Role

The Electrical Project Manager / Estimator plays a critical role in overseeing and managing electrical construction projects from inception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical systems and construction processes to accurately estimate project costs, resources, and timelines. The successful candidate will coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project execution and resolve any issues that arise. They will also be responsible for preparing detailed bids and proposals that align with client requirements and company objectives.

This is a client-specific position supporting a major client account. Employment in this role is dependent upon the company's contract with that client and the client's ongoing project needs. While Left Coast Electric is committed to long-term employment opportunities, this position exists to fulfill the requirements of that specific client contract and may be modified or discontinued if the contract ends or project needs change.

Ultimately, this role ensures the successful delivery of electrical projects that meet safety regulations, client expectations, and company profitability goals while maintaining the Company's standards for quality, safety, and profitability.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical project management and estimating within the commercial electrical construction industry.
  • Proficiency in electrical estimating software and project management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, OSHA regulations, and industry safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and advanced project scheduling software.
  • Familiarity with LEED certification processes and sustainable electrical design practices.
  • Previous experience managing large-scale commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, or public works electrical projects.
  • Advanced training or certification in cost estimating methodologies.
  • Experience working on client-dedicated accounts.
Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project-related expenses.
  • Prepare competitive bids, proposals, budgets, and change order pricing.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, procurement, and resources to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify project requirements and resolve technical or logistical issues.
  • Oversee procurement activities, including vendor selection, material purchasing, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Monitor project progress through regular site visits and meetings while ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Identify project risks and proactively develop solutions to minimize cost overruns and schedule impacts.
  • Prepare and present project proposals, progress reports, forecasting updates, and post-project evaluations to company leadership and clients.
  • Review project financials, manage billing progress, approve vendor invoices, and ensure accurate cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead, mentor, and support project teams while fostering collaboration, accountability, and effective communication across all phases of the project.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and represent Left Coast Electric in a professional manner at all times.

Proficiency with estimating software and project management tools allows for efficient tracking of project progress, scheduling, forecasting, and financial performance.

Preferred skills such as BIM experience, LEED knowledge, and advanced scheduling software enhance the ability to incorporate innovative technologies and sustainable practices into project planning and execution.

Position Information
  • This role is assigned to a major client account and requires adherence to all client-specific policies, site requirements, security procedures, onboarding requirements, and scheduling expectations.
  • Employment is contingent upon maintaining eligibility to work on the client's projects and the continuation of the underlying client contract.
  • The successful candidate may be required to successfully complete client-specific background screenings, badging, training, or other access requirements as a condition of assignment.
  • Work assignments, project locations, schedules, reporting relationships, and responsibilities may change based on client needs, operational requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Periodic travel to project sites may be required.
