Compensation: Pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to job-specific requirements, individual experience, internal pay equity, and organizational needs/budget considerations, all in alignment with our RML's compensation philosophy. Additionally, you may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program based on both individual and organizational performance.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager of Patient and Family Relations, the licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) is licensed to practice independently in Illinois. The LCSW is responsible for providing the full range of supportive services to adult and geriatric patients, support to patient families, and consultation services to physicians, staff, and administration.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supports the Mission and Vision of RML Specialty Hospital by demonstrating RML's Core Values of Service, Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity, Respect and Stewardship (STAIRS) in all actions. Promotes a positive patient/customer experience by exemplifying the principles of the Language of Caring in all interactions with patients, families and co-workers.

2. Assess and treat adult and geriatric patients at RML Specialty Hospital who require LCSW services, incorporating knowledge of the psychological and physiological issues of aging, where applicable, into the assessment and treatment plan.

3. Participate in weekly multidisciplinary staff meetings to coordinate treatment and provide consultation regarding each patient's psychological state and needs. Provide information when needed regarding developmental (aging), cognitive, cultural, religious, or other issues that impact care for each individual patient.

4. Measure and document functional improvements in patients receiving LCSW services.

5. Act as a resource to the Unit Staff, Physicians, and Administrators to facilitate patient care and the needs of employees and visitors.

6. Participate in family meetings. Support patients, families, and staff in identifying and addressing ethical issues, especially concerning end-of-life care.

7. Follow all RML policies and procedures. Attend meetings and in-services as requested. Complete all annual employee requirements (annual review, performance evaluation, PPD, etc.) in a timely manner.

8. Evaluate the clinical environment and help to provide a safe environment based on each patient's age, developmental status, and level of functioning. Understand and apply applicable components of facility patient safety initiatives, such as using two patient identifiers.

9. Maintain confidentiality of the patient's medical information, monitor appropriate documentation, and comply with HIPAA guidelines.

10. Support a safe work environment for self and others by reporting unsafe conditions and using appropriate safe work practices, such as proper body mechanics and applicable safety devices (PPE). Comply with all components of employee health requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & CHARACTERISTICS

MINIMUMPREFERREDSkills & Abilities
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to establish rapport and interact therapeutically with persons from all backgrounds, socioeconomic status, and educational and developmental levels.
  • The communication skills necessary to interact effectively with acutely ill patients, including those with impaired speech due to tracheostomy.
  • The collaboration skills necessary to work effectively in a team environment, demonstrating flexibility in addressing priority clinical needs.
  • Knowledge & Experience

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker from an accredited institution.
  • Relevant experience and training in Medical LCSW.
  • Competency in age-related care for adult and elderly patients.
  • Computer skills, including word processing.
  • License & Certifications

  • Current license to practice LCSW in the State of Illinois.
  • Working Conditions

    Patient Care Unit and professional office.
