Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision-machined components that meet strict quality and tolerance requirements. The ideal candidate has strong machining knowledge, can interpret engineering drawings, calculate feeds and speeds, edit CNC programs and offsets, troubleshoot machining issues, and use precision measuring equipment to verify part quality. This position requires a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and producing high-quality parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Requirements:- Set up and operate CNC machines - mills and lathes - to produce precision components.
- Set up, modify, and maintain fixtures, cutting tools, and work holding as needed to meet production requirements.
- Calculate appropriate cutting speeds, feeds, and machining parameters based on material and tooling.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to manufacture parts to specification.
- Machine parts to required tolerances while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Perform CNC program edits, including G-code, M-code, offsets, and tool compensation adjustments.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and identify corrective actions to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Monitor tool wear, establish tool replacement intervals, and perform tooling changes as needed.
- Perform routine fixture maintenance and machine setup adjustments.
- Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, radius gauges, and machinist protractors.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and collaborate with team members to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate degree in Machining Technology or related technical field or an accredited machining trade or vocational school certificate
- Minimum of five (5) years of CNC machining experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience setting up and operating multiple types of machine shop equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, GD&T, tolerances, and process specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to machine precision parts within required tolerances.
- Working knowledge of machining properties for materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, and composites.
- Experience calculating feeds, speeds, tooling, and machining parameters.
- Experience editing CNC machine programs, including G-code, M-code, and offsets.
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, radius gauges, and machinist protractors.
- Knowledge of machine operation, tooling, preventative maintenance, and safe machining practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Equivalent Experience/Education
- An associate degree in Machining Technology may substitute for up to two (2) years of required experience.
- An accredited machining trade or vocational certificate may substitute for one (1) year of required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Machining Technology or related technical field.
- Completion of an accredited machining apprenticeship or vocational training program.
- Experience machining complex, close-tolerance components.
- Experience with multiple CNC control platforms.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.
- Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume or precision manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of preventative maintenance for CNC equipment.
