Job Description
Breast Center Representative
To support the staff in the organization and implementation of non-clinical functions of the Breast Center and special clerical duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates proficiency in clerical functions: registration, filing, and other clerical duties as assigned.
- Greets outpatients upon arrival and informs proper staff of their arrival. Answers incoming calls, takes and relates messages to available personnel using proper phone technique.
- Conceptualize, design and implement improvement in office productivity, such as paperwork elimination, improved paper flow, and upgrading of antiquated systems.
- Obtains comparison images on patients as requested by the Radiologist. Works with file room to assist patients with obtaining their HealthAlliance images for pick-up or to be sent to outside facilities.
- Demonstrates responsibility for the containment of Hospital costs through appropriate ordering of supplies, recovery of patient charges and conservation of supplies.
- Assists in development of department goals. Assists in identifying the strengths and opportunities for future development.
- Maintains patient confidentiality. Provides psychological support to patients to ease fears and permit ventilation of anxieties.
- Performs other clerical-reception duties as requested by Radiologists and Administration.
- Participates in data collections. Understands process and impacts of CQI program. Assists with ongoing QA/CQI activities.
- Displays efficiency in using the PACS for scanning documents, looking up patient history and tasks related to image disks. Maintains current with MRS system, attending update training sessions when necessary. Keeps staff and radiologists informed of changes in reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE
- Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills. 1 - 2 years experience, preferably in a medical field.
EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalent
