POSITION SUMMARY
To assist in the purchasing of surgical supplies, replacement instruments, and consignment inventory. To be a resource for product/equipment information to surgical staff and Physicians. To facilitate cost savings effort.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training:
High School Graduate.
Three (3) years’ experience in the surgery supply management
Workplace Experience:
Perioperative Care
Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently. Standard patient care equipment for services provided, network computer system, Meditech, and Microsoft Office.
Physical Environment:
A Surgical Care Unit/Holding Area with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age.
Physical Effort:
Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day.
Prolonged sitting, repetitive motion, bending, reaching to lift and retrieve items up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Extensive telephone usage; subject to frequent interruptions; multi-task oriented.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  1. Completes supply requisitions in order for MM to place purchase orders which are accurate.
  2. Coordinates consignment inventory with designated vendors.
  3. Coordinates request for special orders from surgery staff and physicians. Reviews and obtains appropriate approvals to purchase.
  4. Coordinate and handles equipment repairs and loans with Bio Medical Department.
  5. Assist with the care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  6. Act as a resource to surgery staff in matters such as: purchasing procedures, product information, contract compliance, use of GPO contracts, etc.
  7. Reviews operating room schedule to determine if special orders need to be placed for items not carried “in –house”.
  8. Reviews the doctor’s order’s that are faxed over, from the doctor’s office, for any special orders that need to be placed.
  9. Coordinates communication of back orders and provide users with a release date. Determine if a substitute is needed.
  10. Establishes good vendor relationships by maintaining confidentiality of all prices, terms, and conditions and treating vendors respectfully and fairly
  11. Assist in setting up patient charges items.
  12. Assists the Director of Surgical Services/CNO for quotation requests, contract review, etc.
  13. Maintains tissue policies and logs.
