Job Description
Under the direction of the Supervisor or Shift Manager, the Host is the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience. This position is responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing waitlists and reservations, and ensuring smooth guest flow throughout the restaurant. The Host contributes to a welcoming, efficient, and guest‑ready environment while upholding all company policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
- Welcomes guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner, setting the tone for the dining experience
- Manages seating charts, waitlists, and reservations to optimize table flow and minimize wait times
- Escorts guests to tables and provides menus while highlighting any specials or features
- Communicates accurate wait times and ensures guests feel acknowledged and informed
- Assists servers and bussers during peak periods by supporting guest flow and communication
- Answers phones, manages inquiries, and handles take‑out or general information requests
- Observes guest needs and communicates requests or concerns to servers or management
- Maintains a clean, organized, and guest‑ready host stand and entrance area
- Assists in resolving guest concerns by notifying the appropriate team member promptly
- Completes assigned side duties to support smooth daily operations
- Communicates effectively with all operational departments to ensure seamless service
- Builds positive working relationships with guests, team members, and leadership
- Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed
Education and Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year customer service experience
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Experience using “Open Table” reservations platform an asset
- Serving it Right certification
- Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy in MS Office an asset
- Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
