The Position:

We are recruiting for a full time Educational Coach. The Educational Coach is responsible for providing coaching to Education staff within the Head Start program in Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms to strengthen instructional skills, as well as teacher-child interactions. Weekly travel to three counties will be required. An agency vehicle will be provided for travel.

A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education is required. Training and/or experience in Practice-Based Coaching is preferred.

Hiring Range -$21.11-$29.06 (actual)

$17.94-$24.70(prorate)

Job Purpose

The Educational Coach performs CLASS observations and provides feedback to classroom staff. Assists the program in ensuring compliance with performance standards, licensing, and all funding source requirements.

Specific Requirements

Knowledge: Professional knowledge of Early Childhood Education, CLASS, instructional practices, classroom management, coaching, and adult learning.

Leadership: Provides leadership to teaching staff.

Supervisory: N/A

Language: English

Guidelines: CLASS, Head Start Performance Standards, DECAL rules, Pre-K requirements, Agency policies.

Complexity: Highly complex; requires strong analytical skills.

Scope: Monitors and follows up on Head Start, Pre-K, DECAL, and Agency standards.

Environment: Work performed in center settings.

Contacts: Interacts with all levels of employees and stakeholders.

Physical: Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs without assistance.

Travel: Daily travel to assigned centers; some overnight travel.

Other: Safety-conscious; Drug-Free workplace.

General Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education required. Practice-Based Coaching experience preferred.

Other: Valid Georgia Driver’s License.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Assess education staff to identify strengths, support needs, and suitability for intensive coaching.
  2. Provide intensive coaching for identified staff.
  3. Observe and provide feedback and modeling of effective teacher practices.
  4. Align coaching with school readiness goals, curriculum, and staff development plans.
  5. Use data analysis and adult learning principles to guide coaching strategies.
  6. Maintain communication between teaching staff, supervisors, Education Specialist, and Program Director.
  7. Establish clear coaching goals and processes for achieving them.
  8. Deliver research-based professional development aligned with program goals.
  9. Submit required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports.
  10. Serve as a mentor demonstrating professionalism and respectful conduct.
  11. Provide coaching at assigned sites weekly or as needed.
  12. Promote parent/community volunteers; ensure timely documentation of in-kind donations.
  13. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  14. Attend required trainings, conferences, and meetings.
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned.
