Design Engineer (Advance Steel)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Design Engineer (Advance Steel) based in India.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the structural design and engineering of residential and commercial building projects for the US market. You’ll work on structural components and framing solutions, translating engineering requirements into accurate and practical designs. The position combines technical design expertise with project coordination, documentation, and client interaction. You’ll work with tools such as Advance Steel and AutoCAD while applying relevant structural codes and industry standards. The role requires a strong understanding of wood and steel structures, load calculations, foundations, lateral systems, and shear wall design. You’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to expected quality standards. Accountabilities:
  • Design structural components for a variety of residential and commercial building projects, with a focus on US-based projects.
  • Develop structural drawings and models for wooden residential buildings, steel structures, and related framing systems.
  • Apply knowledge of multifamily framing, load calculations, beam loads, shear wall design, foundations, lateral systems, and frame sizing.
  • Prepare engineering concept plans, detailed design drawings, structural documentation, and project deliverables.
  • Use Advance Steel and AutoCAD to develop accurate and detailed structural drawings and models.
  • Ensure designs comply with client requirements, applicable US structural codes, recognized engineering standards, and project specifications.
  • Review structural requirements and finalize appropriate frame sizes and design solutions based on engineering calculations.
  • Manage assigned projects and deliverables to meet agreed timelines, quality expectations, budgets, and client requirements.
  • Participate in client meetings, communicate technical information, and address project-related questions or design requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure design information is organized and up to date.
  • Stay current with developments in structural engineering practices, design methodologies, and relevant software.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and contribute to continuous improvement of design and engineering processes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BE Civil) or an equivalent qualification.
  • 2–3 years of professional experience in structural design, preferably involving US-based residential or commercial projects.
  • Strong domain knowledge of US residential and commercial structural design practices.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Advance Steel and AutoCAD.
  • Practical understanding of wooden residential structures and steel drawings and structural systems.
  • Knowledge of multifamily framing, load calculations, beam design, frame sizing, shear walls, foundations, and lateral systems.
  • Understanding of applicable US structural codes, engineering standards, and client-specific design requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering requirements and produce accurate concept plans, detailed designs, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach to structural design.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to participate effectively in client meetings.
  • Team-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Quick learner who is willing to stay current with evolving structural software, engineering practices, and design standards.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple project requirements while meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to work from the Pune office, Monday to Friday, for the initial 3 months, followed by a work-from-home arrangement.
  • Willingness to work a general shift schedule.
