Specialist - People Operations - Global Service Centre

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Specialist - People Operations - Global Service Centre based in India.

This role supports the effective administration of employee absence and leave processes within a global People Operations environment.
You will help ensure that leave requests, attendance records, and absence cases are handled accurately, consistently, and on time.
The position combines HR operations, employee support, data management, reporting, and HRIS administration.
You will work closely with employees, managers, and HR teams to resolve queries, identify exceptions, and maintain reliable workforce information.
The role also contributes to absence analytics, system enhancements, audits, and continuous process improvement.
Success requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, organization, and a customer-focused approach.

Accountabilities
  • Process and administer employee leave and absence requests, including annual leave, work-from-home, sick, medical, maternity, and unpaid leave, in line with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Verify employee eligibility, leave balances, supporting documentation, and approval workflows while ensuring transactions are completed accurately and within defined timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date absence, attendance, and leave records across HRIS and workforce management systems.
  • Monitor pending approvals and follow up with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of outstanding requests.
  • Track attendance and absence patterns, identifying excessive, recurring, long-term, or unusual absences and escalating relevant cases to the HR team.
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding leave policies, balances, procedures, documentation, and absence-related processes.
  • Escalate exceptions, discrepancies, and potential non-compliance cases in accordance with established procedures.
  • Generate regular absence, attendance, and leave-utilization reports, supporting workforce reporting through accurate data extraction and analysis.
  • Identify trends and anomalies in workforce data and assist with management dashboards, HR metrics, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and validate supporting documentation, including medical certificates and leave applications, ensuring records are properly filed, archived, and audit-ready.
  • Participate in HR system testing and validation activities during enhancements, updates, or process changes.
  • Support continuous improvement of absence-management processes while maintaining confidentiality, data integrity, and compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with HR, employees, managers, and other stakeholders across a multicultural and international environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in employee relations, absence management, leave administration, or a related HR operations function.
  • Sound knowledge of absence management administration, leave and attendance tracking, and HR data management.
  • Strong experience working with HRIS or ERP platforms such as SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, Workday, Oracle, IFS, or comparable systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage, analyze, and report workforce data.
  • Understanding of employment laws and regulations relating to absence, leave entitlements, and employee well-being in India and the UAE.
  • Strong reporting and analytical capabilities, with the ability to identify trends, discrepancies, and data anomalies.
  • Fluent English communication skills, including strong technical writing and report-writing abilities; additional language skills are an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, time management, and accountability when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and communication skills, with the ability to explain HR processes clearly to employees and managers.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, adaptability, teamwork, cultural awareness, confidentiality, and professional integrity.
  • A continuous-learning mindset and willingness to adapt to evolving HR systems, processes, and business requirements.
