This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced wastewater engineering professional ready to shape the direction of a regional practice across Colorado, Utah, and Texas. You will lead complex wastewater projects that support environmental protection, water sustainability, and public health. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will connect strategic priorities with high-quality project execution. The position also provides flexibility to contribute as a Project Manager, Client Service Manager, or Design Manager depending on your expertise and relationships.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead complex wastewater engineering analyses, planning initiatives, and design efforts, applying advanced technical expertise to challenging and ambiguous problems.
  • Prepare, review, and approve sophisticated technical reports, engineering analyses, designs, and recommendations while maintaining high standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop innovative environmental protection systems and infrastructure for complex wastewater projects, including treatment and conveyance, solids and energy management, and related areas.
  • Lead the development of facility, watershed, and strategic resource management plans.
  • Shape the wastewater practice strategy across Colorado, Utah, and Texas by identifying regional trends, setting priorities, and creating meaningful technical differentiation.
  • Drive business development and profitable growth through client engagement, project pursuits, sales strategy, and operational initiatives.
  • Contribute to wastewater sales leadership, with responsibility for approximately $500K–$1M in annual project opportunities.
  • Collaborate with regional and national practice leaders, client service managers, growth leaders, subject matter experts, and project managers to translate strategic objectives into successful execution.
  • Support recruitment, hiring, innovation, research, technical capability development, and long-term growth of the wastewater team.
  • Provide technical leadership during permitting, regulatory coordination, vendor engagement, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced professionals through coaching, knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and career support.
  • Adapt to evolving business priorities and take on additional project, client service, or design leadership responsibilities as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field is required; a master’s degree in a related engineering discipline with a wastewater focus is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in environmental engineering or a related field is required.
  • 15+ years of wastewater engineering experience and at least 8 years of project leadership experience are preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental engineering principles, wastewater systems, applicable regulations, engineering standards, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex and ambiguous technical problems using strong engineering judgment.
  • Proven experience leading wastewater business development and sales, ideally with responsibility for approximately $500K–$1M in annual sales.
  • Experience developing and executing sales or operational strategies that support business growth and market differentiation.
  • Ability to motivate teams, lead project and client pursuits, and collaborate effectively across technical and business functions.
  • Strong communication, leadership, relationship-building, and mentoring skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Colorado, Utah, and/or Texas is preferred.
  • Willingness to progress through a subject matter specialist competency framework.
  • Candidates must be located in Colorado, Utah, or Texas; remote work from home is permitted.
Benefits:
  • Competitive starting salary, with anticipated ranges based on primary work location:
    • $117,000–$159,000
    • $128,000–$175,000

  • Performance-based bonus eligibility.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Life insurance and employee assistance program.
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and parental leave.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match.
  • Employee referral bonuses.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
  • Pet insurance and long-term care insurance.
  • Remote work-from-home flexibility within Colorado, Utah, or Texas.
  • Opportunities for meaningful leadership, technical innovation, professional development, and regional business growth.
