Description:

Combustion & Control Solutions (CCS) is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead all human resources and payroll functions across the organization. This position serves as the primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, managers, and company leadership across all current and future CCS locations.

The HR Manager will be responsible for employee relations, payroll administration, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, compliance, policy administration, performance management, training, and workforce development. The successful candidate will be expected to independently manage the vast majority of day-to-day HR matters while serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team on complex employee and organizational issues.

This role requires a seasoned HR professional with experience supporting blue-collar workforces and the ability to effectively navigate sensitive, emotional, and challenging employee relations situations with professionalism, consistency, and sound judgment.

Location & Travel

  • Full-time position based in Chattanooga, TN
  • Supports all CCS locations and future branch offices
  • Travel to remote office locations and job sites required as needed
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Leadership

  • Lead and manage all HR functions across the organization.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team on employee relations, organizational development, and workforce planning.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Partner with leadership on employee retention, engagement, succession planning, and company growth initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and employment practices across all locations.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters.
  • Conduct investigations involving workplace complaints, policy violations, performance concerns, and corrective action issues.
  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, documentation, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and leave programs.

Recruiting & Workforce Development

  • Lead recruiting and hiring efforts for all company positions.
  • Manage onboarding, orientation, and employee integration processes.
  • Support employee development, training initiatives, performance reviews, and succession planning.

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Process and manage payroll accurately and timely.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and annual enrollment activities.
  • Maintain HR and payroll records and ensure data accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll and benefits questions.

Multi-Location Support

  • Provide HR support to all CCS offices and future locations.
  • Travel as needed to support employees, managers, investigations, training, recruiting, and operational initiatives.
  • Assist with HR integration, staffing, and infrastructure as CCS expands.
  • Promote a positive, productive, and accountable workplace culture throughout the organization.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in an HR management or senior HR generalist role.
  • Experience supporting, industrial, manufacturing, construction, mechanical service, or field-service workforces.
  • Experience independently handling employee relations, investigations, corrective actions, conflict resolution, and terminations.
  • Experience administering payroll and employee benefits.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, wage and hour regulations, and HR compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to handle difficult employee situations with professionalism, objectivity, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Experience in a multi-location or multi-state environment.
  • Experience supporting a growing organization with multiple facilities.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll management systems.
