Banco Sabadell is seeking a BSA & OFAC Officer candidate to join a dynamic team within one of the fastest growing banks in Florida.
Responsibilities
• Carries out compliance supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Develop, maintain, and evolve the organization's BSA/AML/OFAC (Anti-Money Laundering) and DDMU policies, procedures, and risk assessments. Adopts a continual improvement philosophy and disseminates it to his staff.
• Oversee OFAC screening systems and protocols
• Oversee the investigation of alerts and approve the timely filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs). Ensures Quality Assurance program is in place.
• Ensure robust Know Your Customer (KYC), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) procedures are applied consistently to to all accounts.
• Be a subject matter expert and answer day-to-day questions on BSA/AML/OFAC/DDMU issues.
• Stay current with new BSA/AML regulations and enforcement activities.
• Conduct annual review of the BSA, AML, Anti-Terrorist Financing and OFAC Compliance Program to ensure that it is maintained current and accurately reflects any additions or changes in the BSA laws, rules and regulations
• Review the Bank’s account monitoring application system reports to ensure compliance with the Bank’s standards established for the monitoring of client activity
• Maintain the Bank’s management, officers and staff adequately informed of new legislative actions or amendments pertaining to BSA and OFAC sanctions
• Develop and maintain a proper culture of Compliance throughout the organization, which includes the selection of on-line training courses; and, develop and conduct in-house AML/BSA/KYC training for all appropriate Bank personnel
• Chairs the Compliance Committee meetings and Liaison with Head Office Compliance in all matters related to BSA and OFAC/sanctions compliance
• Maintains open line of communication with Head Office Compliance, on an ongoing basis, including, but not limited to program status, Compliance Committee related matters and relevant issues that arise
• Attend, as available, compliance courses, seminars, conferences, and workshops to stay abreast of regulatory developments and enhance the knowledge and understanding of applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Adheres to Entity Policies and Standards and Regulations
• Oversees departmental projects and initiatives as required
• Participates in internal and external meetings, internal audits, regulatory exams as required
• Assists Head of Compliance and Control with departmental initiatives as needed
• The employee may be required to perform additional duties beyond those listed as needed
Requirements
• College degree from a top-tier US institution and/or 2-4 years equivalent financial services experience, preferably in a bank setting or loan support environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required. OR
• 10+ years of progressive experience in a combination of information BSA, OFAC, Sanctions, Fiduciary Risk with experience in leadership roles.
• Strong executive presence to be able to present analysis and recommendations in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive management.
• Knowledge of relevant legal/regulatory requirements in BSA, OFAC & Sanctions
