Description: Youth Counselor | Bilingual & English-Speaking Candidates

Salary: $54,000 Annually
Work Location: In Person

Make a Difference in the Lives of Young People with Xiente

Xiente is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and dependable Youth Counselor to provide guidance, support, mentorship, and advocacy to youth in our community.

We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and welcome both bilingual English/Spanish and English-speaking candidates.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with young people and helping them overcome barriers, develop positive life skills, make healthy decisions, and work toward their personal, educational, and developmental goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support, guidance, counseling, and mentorship to youth participants.
  • Build positive, supportive, and professional relationships with youth and their families.
  • Conduct assessments to identify participant needs, strengths, barriers, and goals.
  • Develop and maintain individualized service plans based on each participant’s needs and goals.
  • Assist youth in developing communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and life skills.
  • Provide ongoing encouragement, advocacy, and support to help youth achieve positive outcomes.
  • Monitor participant progress and make appropriate adjustments to service plans.
  • Connect youth and families with community resources and supportive services.
  • Assist participants in addressing social, emotional, educational, employment, and behavioral barriers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, reports, and program documentation.
  • Collaborate with Xiente staff, families, schools, community organizations, and other partners.
  • Support youth through challenging situations while helping them identify positive solutions.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and program activities.
Requirements:

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with youth in counseling, behavioral health, case management, social services, education, mentoring, workforce development, or community-based programs preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal, advocacy, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Ability to navigate challenging situations with patience, professionalism, compassion, and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly valued, but qualified English-speaking candidates are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $54,000 annually
