Reports to: Farm Shop Manager

Location: Clewiston, FL

Type: Full-Time | Onsite | Non-Exempt

JOB OVERVIEW

Our Agricultural Farming team is seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to join our repair department.

Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Job duties include but not limited to:
  • Diagnose issues in field and in a shop environment and test run repaired equipment to verify repairs.
  • Document repairs and maintenance performed in log books or e-logs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Maintain company assigned vehicles and keep them good working condition
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural diesel engines, tractors, farm trucks, and harvesting equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed primarily in a farm maintenance shop, repair facility, and outdoor agricultural environments.
  • Frequent exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, dust, and direct sunlight.
  • Regular exposure to diesel fuel, oils, grease, hydraulic fluids, solvents, welding fumes, and other maintenance-related chemicals.
  • Frequent work around heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, tractors, harvesting equipment, trucks, and moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to moderate to high noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
  • May be required to perform field repairs in remote farm locations and uneven terrain.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and other safety gear as required.
  • May be required to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, or seasonal overtime during peak harvest and planting periods.
  • Frequent interaction with shop personnel, farm operators, supervisors, and equipment manufacturers' service representatives.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, parts, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
  • Ability to work underneath equipment, inside engine compartments, and in confined spaces when performing repairs and maintenance.
  • Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, cutting torches, diagnostic equipment, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to climb ladders, steps, tractors, harvesting equipment, and truck cabs safely.
  • Requires manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic repairs.
  • Ability to visually inspect equipment components, read diagnostic screens, technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a shop and field environment.
  • Must be capable of operating company vehicles and maintaining a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding work in both indoor and outdoor environments while maintaining compliance with all safety procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a minimum of 4 or more years’ experience in agricultural repair
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Electrical Systems (diagnostics with ECU’s, PCU’s, and sub related systems)
  • Gearbox and PTO engagement systems
  • Diesel diagnostic and engine overhaul experience preferred (John Deere)
  • Welding, fabrication, cutting torch background preferred
  • Shaft and Bearing Alignment
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • John Deere certification or trade school diploma is a plus
  • Will consider repair backgrounds from construction, heavy equipment, or repair shop as well.
  • Ford truck repair experience is a plus
  • Must have tools to accomplish your job assignments
  • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting of Farm and Harvesting Equipment (John Deere)
