Job Description
OVERVIEW
MICA Steelworks is a leading fabricator of high-quality steel Power Delivery Structures for the electric utility industry. We take pride in precision, efficiency and craftsmanship across all operations. The Fabrication Parts Kitter plays a key role in ensuring smooth production flow by collecting, organizing, and staging detailed steel parts for fabrication. This position ensures that all components required for welding are accurately identified, sorted, and delivered to the correct work areas according to job numbers and sales orders.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Production Manager, the Fabrication Parts Kitter is responsible for accurately pulling and arranging detailed parts for assigned jobs, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and readiness for fabrication. The role requires close attention to detail, coordination with production teams, and adherence to schedules to maintain workflow efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Retrieve, verify, and label detailed parts based on job numbers, sales orders, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Collect, organize, and assemble detail parts into complete kits for weld shop production.
• Stage and deliver kits to designated weld areas according to production priorities, ensuring all parts, counts, and materials are accurate.
• Maintain organized staging and storage areas, returning unused or excess parts to inventory as schedules change.
• Support general inventory management, material handling, and coordination with welders, fitters, and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
• Perform other related duties or special projects assigned.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or warehouse environment.
• Experience interpreting work orders, drawings, or Bills of Materials preferred.
• ERP or inventory management system experience preferred.
• Forklift and pallet jack experience a plus.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish (read, write, speak) a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing or fabrication processes.
• Effective communication skills and reliable work ethic, including consistent attendance and punctuality. Physically able to lift and move materials safely (up to 50 lbs.).
• Must successfully pass background checks, drug screening, physical, audiogram, and vision test.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This job operates in a professional office environment, in addition to spending time in the fabrication plant. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, phones, etc.

• Enterprise resource planning ERP software – Global Shop; Microsoft Outlook
• Microsoft Office suite software – Word; Excel
