Senior Allocation Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Allocation Analyst based in United States.

This role plays a key part in driving inventory optimization and assortment planning across retail merchandise categories, ensuring the right products are delivered to the right stores at the right time. It focuses on translating complex retail and sales data into actionable allocation strategies that support revenue growth and profitability. You will collaborate closely with buying, planning, and merchandising teams to shape seasonal assortments and in-season inventory decisions. The position requires strong analytical thinking combined with a deep understanding of store performance, customer demand, and product lifecycle dynamics. Operating in a fast-paced retail environment, you will help ensure inventory efficiency while improving the customer experience across channels. This is a highly cross-functional role where insights directly influence product availability and business outcomes. Accountabilities:

This role is responsible for ensuring optimal inventory allocation and assortment planning to maximize sales performance, product availability, and category profitability.

  • Collaborate with buyers and planners to develop and execute assortment and allocation strategies aligned with financial and merchandising goals.
  • Manage pre-receiving reviews of styles to ensure accurate store allocations aligned with planned assortments.
  • Develop clustering strategies by store type, class, or category to improve targeting and allocation accuracy.
  • Analyze store performance, rankings, and attributes to identify demand patterns and optimize inventory distribution.
  • Monitor in-season and post-season performance to identify opportunities for future planning improvements.
  • Oversee replenishment execution and ensure inventory levels are maintained effectively across stores.
  • Support new store opening assortments based on sales forecasts and inventory targets.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, retail merchandising understanding, and the ability to translate data into actionable allocation strategies.

  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or retail merchandising analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with planning or BI tools is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into clear, actionable business insights.
  • Strong understanding of retail inventory, allocation, or assortment planning concepts.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across merchandising, planning, and operations teams.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
