This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Environment Artist based in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the visual identity of a large-scale cooperative open-world experience where environments are not just backgrounds, but interactive, systemic spaces that drive player creativity and collaboration. You will help build immersive, expressive worlds that support social gameplay, exploration, and emergent storytelling. Working closely with a distributed art and development team, you will contribute both creatively and technically to environment production pipelines. The role combines hands-on world-building with strategic input on workflows, tools, and production standards. You will play a key part in defining how environments are authored, optimized, and integrated into gameplay systems. This is a highly collaborative, fully remote role within a team focused on innovation, creativity, and meaningful player experiences.
- Create high-quality, game-ready environment assets and worlds that support cooperative and systemic gameplay experiences.
- Collaborate with art, design, and engineering teams to define and implement environment art direction, workflows, and production pipelines.
- Develop and maintain efficient environment creation processes that support scalability and consistency across large open-world spaces.
- Translate concept art and design direction into immersive 3D environments that enhance gameplay and narrative.
- Optimize environments for performance, usability, and technical constraints while preserving visual fidelity.
- Contribute to the development of tools, pipelines, and best practices for environment production in a multiplayer game context.
- Provide feedback and creative solutions to improve visual storytelling, world coherence, and player engagement.
- Participate in regular remote and in-person team sessions to align on artistic vision and production goals.
- 5+ years of experience as an Environment Artist in game development, preferably on AAA or high-quality indie titles.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in 3D environment creation, world-building, lighting, composition, and storytelling.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or equivalent real-time engines.
- Strong knowledge of modeling, texturing, shading, and environment optimization techniques.
- Experience working with collaborative pipelines and contributing to art workflows in cross-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to translate concept art and design direction into immersive, playable environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to balance artistic vision with technical constraints.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a fully remote, distributed team environment.
