Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Infectious Disease team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive care to patients with infectious diseases, including HIV, across both outpatient clinics and inpatient hospital settings. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based care and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.
Location: 462 Grider Street, Buffalo, NY
Department: Infectious Disease
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (hours may vary based on operational needs, but will be daytime hours)
On-Call: (to be determined)
- Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for patients with infectious diseases in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, applying evidence-based clinical practice.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, and monitoring patient response to therapy.
- Interpret laboratory and diagnostic findings and integrate results into patient care plans.
- Provide ongoing management of patients living with HIV, including antiretroviral therapy management, preventive care, and monitoring for treatment effectiveness and complications.
- Educate patients and families on disease prevention, medication adherence, HIV management, and health maintenance.
- Coordinate follow-up care, respond to patient concerns between visits, and facilitate referrals to specialists and community resources as appropriate.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection prevention efforts, and departmental protocols.
- Maintain current knowledge of advances in infectious disease treatment and evidence-based practice through continuing education.

QualificationsEducation
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current New York State license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Experience
- One to two years of advanced practice experience in an outpatient or inpatient setting preferred.
- Experience caring for patients with HIV is strongly preferred.
- Experience in infectious disease practice is preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills.
- Knowledge of infectious diseases, HIV care, and current treatment guidelines preferred.
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
