About This Position
Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of a Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Engineer III performs general, routine maintenance and servicing operations to maintain the hospital buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position is responsible for a designated portion of these buildings, including assigned preventive maintenance and daily non-scheduled work requests.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and replaces non-operational equipment, including Electrical Systems, HVAC Systems, Fire Prevention Systems, and Patient Sustaining Equipment, as certified/licensed.
- Completes preventive maintenance (PM’s) tasks as scheduled.
- Completes all maintenance service requests as assigned; Inspects, operates, and maintains operational equipment; and reports deficiencies to management.
- Makes shift rounds, checking equipment for normal operations; observes meters and gauges; and makes adjustments as needed.
- Documents log sheets and contacts management/contractor if outside service/repairs are needed.
- Monitors chemical inventory use, rotation, and disposal and monitors working order and efficiency of chemical pumps.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Completion of an accredited trade school; OR a minimum of five years experience specializing in electrical, plumbing, high pressure boilers, and refrigeration related to hospital-specific equipment; OR seven years of experience specializing in electrical, plumbing, high pressure boilers, and refrigeration related to non-hospital-specific equipment.
- Valid Kansas driver's license with an acceptable driving record and must be insurable through the medical center's insurance carrier.
- Certified pool operator (CPO) required for those working in CHI, or must obtain certification within the first six months of employment.
- Additional certification may be required for certain settings or populations.
- Specific information and the time-frame in which such certification must be attained will be provided by the department director/manager/supervisor at time of hire/transfer into department.
Preferred:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Certification/licensure in electrical, plumbing, high pressure boilers, and/or refrigeration.
Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.
