POSITION PURPOSE
-
The HIM Projects Specialist works on projects in the HIM department.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
-
Bachelor's Degree preferred

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 3 years in the healthcare field
-
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) eligible or certified or history of progressive advancement in HIM field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
-
Prior HIM experience preferred.

Proficient user of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
-
Ability to organize, analyze, problem-solve, and educate.

Ability to respond to continual re-prioritization of tasks and a changing environment.
-
Precise attention to detail.

Ability to exercise discretion and judgement.

Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language.

Ability to self-initiate and follow through.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of professionals including HIM professional, other department professionals, and physicians.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
-
Assists with special projects such as medical record amendment request tracking, privacy breach, and business associate agreement management, and medical record content and quality review.
-
Documents practices and procedures.
-
Monitors laws and regulations which affect operations.
-
Demonstrates good decision making skills.
-
Performs duties in an independent manner, adjusting priorities as needed, and informs supervisor if task cannot be completed in a timely manner.

Demonstrates ability to identify problems, recommend viable solutions, and solve problems in a timely manner.

Sets an example as a team player.

Participates in on-going education.
