Flagger in Hudson Falls, New York at Peckham Industries

Job Summary:

The Flagger will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of workers and the public by directing traffic around road construction sites. This position requires someone who is attentive, responsible, and capable of maintaining a safe work environment.

Essential Functions:

1. Focused. Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic using hand signals, signs, and other communication tools.

2. Committed to serve. Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barricades.

3. Communicate effectively with other flaggers and construction crew to ensure coordinated and safe traffic flow.

4. Safety always wins. Monitor and assess traffic and work conditions, adjusting as necessary to ensure safety.

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines and report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor immediately.

Requirements, Education and Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Valid Flagger certification (training can be provided by the company). Previous experience as a Flagger, a plus.

3. Ability to work well in a team environment.

4. Ability to stand for long periods and work in all weather conditions.

5. Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions.

6. Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.

7. Reliable transportation to and from the job site.

8. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

9. Authorized to work in the U.S.

Travel:

Position may require up to 100% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position works outdoors in hot, humid and/or inclement weather. Heavy work includes moving objects up to 50 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, walking, reaching, and repetitive motion.
