About This Position

Description:

Summary/objective

This position will have a major focus with multi-party check handling, contacting mortgage companies and interacting with network contractors. Candidates should be knowledgeable in Accounts Receivable (AR) and should be well-versed in all phases of accounting practices and procedures, including the ability to research and analyze financial information and reports. In addition, the Accounting Specialist must have excellent communication skills as this position is a liaison between the accounting function, external customers, and other internal departments.

  • · Obtaining endorsements on multi-party checks for deposits into our bank account
  • · Contacting mortgage companies to obtain the required check endorsements.
  • · Work with contractors, who in turn work with the Insured to obtain the required documentation and/or required check endorsements.
  • · Perform the application of funds received on claim assignments.
  • · Perform reconciliations of customer accounts.
  • · Work with customers to collect past due accounts.
  • · Work with adjusters to collect funds owed on assignments.
  • · Process imports of cash receipt data into proprietary management systems.
  • · Deposit checks and post cash receipts.
  • · Proactively look for process and system improvements.
  • · Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verify information to confirm accuracy.
  • · Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required education and experience

· 2+ years of accounting experience required.

· 3+ years of strong experience in Microsoft Excel, including skill with pivot tables, formulas, and formatting.

Preferred education and experience

· BA/BS in Accounting or closely related field preferred.

· 2+ years of customer service experience via phone and email preferred.

· Experience with Great Plains Dynamics preferred.

· Chart of accounts and general ledger knowledge preferred.

· Experience with detailed account reconciliations.

· Typing speed of 55+ words per minute; comfortable with 10-key typing.
