About the Role
Job Title: Maintenance Technician Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and overall functionality of buildings, grounds, and equipment at an outdoor school/resort facility. This role ensures a safe, clean, and fully operational environment for students, guests, and staff while supporting the unique needs of an outdoor, education-based setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, cabins, classrooms, dining facilities, and recreational areas
Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Inspect facilities regularly to identify and address safety hazards or maintenance needs
Maintain outdoor spaces including trails, fields, signage, and common areas
Assist with seasonal opening and closing procedures of facilities
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
Support event setup and breakdown (tables, equipment, lighting, etc.)
Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles safely
Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and organizational policies
Maintain accurate records of work completed, supplies used, and repairs needed
Assist with waste management, recycling, and sustainability initiatives
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to use a computer to communicate and update tasks
1–3 years of general maintenance experience preferred (facilities, hospitality, camp, or school environment)
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems
Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs independently
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate maintenance vehicles
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Experience working in a camp, outdoor education, or resort environment
Familiarity with hand and power tools
Certifications (e.g., OSHA, HVAC, electrical) are a plus
Basic landscaping or groundskeeping experience
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Frequent walking, bending, climbing, and standing
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when needed
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Primarily outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions
Interaction with students, guests, and staff in a dynamic environment
May require on-call availability for urgent maintenance needs
