Ironworker Working Foreman

Summary:

The Ironworker Foreman is a hands-on/working Foreman who leads crews to erect structural and miscellaneous steel. This position requires an experienced Ironworker Foreman who is versed in conventional structural steel erection and stairs. At times, Foreman will perform welding and limited millwright functions.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

1. Drives crew for production value and efficiency
2. Acts as a hands-on leader of the crew
3. Unloads, shakes out, and organizes steel materials
4. Erects steel columns, beams and bar joists
5. Installs bridging in bar joist
6. Experienced in installing metal roof/floor deck
7. Installs materials efficiently while meeting acceptable job specific tolerances
8. Welds and/or bolts connections per details
9. Installs roof and floor edge angle and bent plate
10. Installs miscellaneous structural steel including kicker brace, support channel, hangers, posts, etc.
11. Lays out and installs roof/floor frames
12. Welds moment connections
13. Bolts aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent bolting or welding into place
14. Sets and grouts precast concrete hollow core plank
15. Erects steel stairs stringer, metal pans, guardrail, and handrail
16. Erects catwalks and handrails
17. Installs ladders, railings, grating, and other miscellaneous steel
18. Installs cable rail fall protection
19. Provides proper signaling to equipment operators
20. Cuts and welds steel using torches and welding equipment
21. Adheres to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment
22. Other duties as assigned

Ironworker Working Foreman

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Previous Structural Steel Erection Foreman Experience Required
3. Rigging experience required
4. Welding Certification 3G, 4G, & 6G
5. Mechanical ability to perform millwright type functions required
6. Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform duties of the role
7. 30 Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
8. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
9. Ability to work at heights without fear
10. Ability to perform on a regular basis in outside weather conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid, and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
11. Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites which may require overnight stays away from home
12. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
13. Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions
14. Ability to read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required
15. Ability to use equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
16. Must be a self-starter
17. Ability to work in a team environment
18. Excellent communication skills
