Job Description
The Resident Aide provides direct, compassionate care and daily living support to residents in a long-term care setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life through attentive personal care, safety, and companionship. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs and supports the execution of individual, physical, spiritual, and behavioral care plans while maintaining accurate digital documentation. The Resident Aide will work closely with families, staff, and volunteers to ensure residents' well-being and comfort while fostering a respectful and nurturing environment.
What You’ll Do:
Resident Care and Advocacy
• Provide personal hygiene to residents, including assistance with teeth brushing, peri care, showering and bathing, along with other personal hygiene needs, according to the individual plan of service (IPOS) or relevant care plan.
• Assist residents with toileting and/or use of incontinent products according to the individual plan of service (IPOS) or relevant care plan.
• Required housekeeping tasks include bed-making, setting and clearing tables, wheelchair/walker/other special equipment cleaning, and cleaning of any relevant or assigned room of the home, such as activity room, dining room, kitchen, personal bathrooms, shower room, bedrooms, porch, and so on.
• Dietary tasks include preparing, assisting, and serving meals and snacks according to the individual plan of service (IPOS) or relevant care plan.
Resident Engagement
• Assist residents with carrying out spiritual care plans, including accompanying them to church, praying before meals/bedtime, participating in daily devotions, etc., according to the individual plan of service (IPOS) or relevant care plan.
• Day programming tasks include encouraging residents to reach individual goals of mobility, independence, communication, sensory and community integration, as well as escorting residents to/from events and activities. This includes participating in swimming as assigned.
• Active engagement with residents, families, staff and volunteers in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner is always expected, especially during day programming or other events.
Operational Execution and Environment
• Answer phone calls, place on hold, transfer, or take messages as appropriate.
• Provide documentation on each assigned resident, charting care that was administered, incident/accident reports, witness reports, and other required documentation throughout the shift.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-services.
• Computer skills are essential for documentation via e-charting and management of employee schedules and benefits through employer-contracted software systems.
What You’ll Need
• Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED
• Must pass a fit-to-work physical, drug screen, background check, and fingerprinting
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Dress and behave in a professional manner
• Ability to work autonomously and as a team member
• Cognitively able to reason and solve complex problems.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. either alone or more as part of a two-person assist

We are hiring for Full-, Half-, and Part-Time statuses.
We are looking for 2nd and 3rd shift employees at this time.
• Weekend availability (every other)
• 6-8 hour shifts
• Incentive pay for shifts picked up beyond your scheduled hours
• Year-round position requiring half of major Harbor House holidays (No seasonal work is available)
