Job Description:

The Maintenance Technician works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and other Technicians to complete general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep across RCC’s homes. This position involves hands-on work in a self-directed environment, ensuring that properties are well-maintained, safe, and welcoming for the persons served. The Maintenance Technician also assists with basic technological needs across RCC properties. Most work is performed independently at multiple sites throughout Scott and Dakota Counties

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance at RCC group homes, including interior painting, basic plumbing, light electrical, drywall repair, and minor remodeling.
  • Complete lawn care and outdoor upkeep such as mowing, trimming, and raking.
  • Install household fixtures like curtain rods, shelving, and light hardware.
  • Assist with demolition, cleanup, and flooring projects as needed.
  • Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and utilize a gas card for work-related travel.
  • Engage respectfully with persons served and encourage safe, positive social interactions when appropriate.
  • Complete task checklists and communicate updates with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Work independently while maintaining collaboration and communication with the facilities team.

Requirements:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Maintains personal vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Human Services (DHS) background check.
  • Communication skills adequate to read, understand, and relay information in English.
  • Ability to write in grammatically correct sentences in English.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple locations in Scott & Dakota Counties.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs as needed.
  • Reach and grip with hands frequently.
