Traffic Control Supervisor at Northern Improvement Company – Dickinson, North Dakota

The Traffic Control Supervisor is responsible for designing or setting up and maintaining temporary traffic control in a work zone. This position supervises flaggers employed by Northern Improvement as well as temporary employees contracted through temporary labor services.

Duties and responsibilities

• Discusses traffic routing plans, and type and location of control points with the project team
• Will be responsible to properly setup and maintain proper work zone traffic control on highways and bridges
• Read and interpret traffic control plans to implement in the field
• Must have knowledge of work zone standards, installation, removal procedures, inspection, and documentation
• Informs employees/drivers of detour routes through construction sites
• All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations

Qualifications

• One year of Traffic Control Supervisor experience is preferred, one year of general traffic control experience required
• Traffic control supervisor or technician certificate a plus, but company is willing to help with certification
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment

Working conditions

• Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
• Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
• May be required to work 60+ hours, 6-7 days a week.

• Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
• Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
• Standing for extended periods of time.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
• Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
