The Coordinator, Strategy role will perform duties and responsibilities consistent with providing subject matter support, advice and guidance on several initiatives that will strengthen relationships and improve programs and services with Indigenous people as well as equity deserving groups in the Thames Valley region. A key focus will be in assisting in the implementation of the First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Health and Wellness Reconciliation Action Plan, as well as the Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Strategy for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
This role also supports the overall cultural health of the organization to strengthen an inclusive environment where all employees, volunteers, students, clients and partners feel valued, heard, and empowered.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
- What you'll be making - $31.76 to $35.84 per hour
- The above are initial rates; with grid increases as per policy
- Internal staff members will be placed on the appropriate grid based on their current rate of pay, up to Level 8 of the grid (see Intranet Policy - http://bit.ly/CompensationPolicyPg16)
- When you'll work - 70 hours over two-week period; Hours will be Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
- Your pension plan – Immediately eligible for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
- Your benefits will be – 9% in lieu of benefits
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
Strategic Planning Support:
- Assist the Director, Strategy in advancing projects that support First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and Urban Indigenous priorities.
- Support the Director, Strategy on matters of reconciliation and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and collaborate across all departments
- Help maintain positive and trusting relationships with stakeholders, partners, and the community
- Contribute to identifying solutions that support quality improvements and improve outcomes that are grounded in reconciliation and DEI best and promising practices
- Support activities to strengthen the CMHA TVAMHS brand and reputation in reconciliation and DEI
- Work collaboratively across the CMHA TVAMHS service area to support processes and advance initiatives to identify and remove systemic barriers within the organization, its programs, and operations
Reconciliation and DEI Initiative Coordination:
- Coordinate projects, activities, strategies, and approaches to advance an inclusive and equitable culture
- Participate in initiatives and assist with projects regarding reconciliation efforts by the organization as well as DEI issues impacting the organization
- Help facilitate discussions on difficult and complex issues
Program Evaluation Support:
- Assist programs with gathering metrics and developing reporting processes to assess outcomes and progress
- Support monitoring and evaluating project-related strategies and initiatives across the organization
Project Coordination:
- Support the Director in planning and implementing Indigenous-supporting and DEI projects.
- Work with organization-wide teams on plans specific to Indigenous-supporting projects and DEI initiatives.
- Assist in resolving issues by creating ideas and reviewing options
- Work autonomously, while ensuring the Director, Strategy, is informed and engaged in the process
- Contribute to meeting project objectives and supporting long-term goals
Subject Matter Support:
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Health and Wellness Reconciliation Action Plan, as well as the Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Strategy for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
- Coordinate portions of assigned work portfolios, by providing subject matter support and ideas
- Support the incorporation of cultural values, understanding, and perspectives into program design and implementation.
- Conduct environmental scans, studies, planning sessions and reviews to collect information on trends, developments, best practices, and innovations
- As requested, provide input into policies and programs to ensure alignment with strategies and community needs.
- As appropriate, provide insight and make recommendations on regional initiatives, ensuring diverse community needs are met.
Partnerships and Relationship Building:
- Maintain effective relationships with subject matter experts; collaborate to ensure approaches are inclusive and equitable.
- Maintain effective relationships and partnerships with community stakeholders
- Participate in reconciliation and DEI working groups, communities of interest/practices, and community initiatives and events that enhance the understanding, alignment, and advancement of best, wise, or promising practices.
- Represent the organization at First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous and DEI related meetings, events, gatherings, as appropriate.
- Communicate organizational updates to community stakeholders, where appropriate
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:
Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 4 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.
We require the following qualifications:
- Completed post-secondary education or specialized education in a related subject (for example, social science, sociology, cultural studies, anthropology, social work, Indigenous studies). (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
- Valid Driver’s License: minimum G2 class
- Access to a vehicle required for personal transportation
- Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Experience supporting program development, change initiatives, or DEI/reconciliation work
- Experience with conflict resolution or supporting problem-solving
- Familiarity with Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action as well as other relevant documents specific to Indigenous title and rights
- Working knowledge of anti-oppression, DEI, anti-racism, and accessibility frameworks
- Strong administrative and project management skills
We prefer the following qualifications:
- University Degree or College Diploma in a related field
- Certification in CPR and First Aid
