About This Position
About Princeton University Store
Princeton University Store is an independent retail business that serves students, alums, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors through physical stores, e-commerce, and event-based selling. We are in the midst of an important period of transformation as we work to strengthen our store and ecommerce operations, retail execution, and consumer experiences.
We are seeking a seasoned operations leader to oversee store and omnichannel execution across our retail business. This role leads operations for our Nassau Street and University Place locations, athletic events, receiving and stockroom operations, and temporary retail activity, while providing matrix oversight to e-commerce fulfillment and customer service. The role scope and reporting structure emphasize strong execution, omnichannel service support, systems fluency, and operational modernization.
The Director of Stores and Omnichannel Operations will strengthen day-to-day execution, improve operating discipline, raise service and leadership standards, and modernize workflows across stores and fulfillment. The role also includes the practical use of AI-enabled and other digital tools to improve reporting, labor productivity, documentation, service responsiveness, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead store operations across multiple retail environments, including athletic events and event-based retail
• Direct receiving leadership and improve stockroom, replenishment, and back-of-house discipline
• Own omnichannel operational execution, including buy online, pick up in-store, ship-from-store, in-store returns, fulfillment readiness, and post-purchase service standards
• Provide matrix oversight to e-commerce fulfillment and customer service
• Establish and maintain SOPs, playbooks, and operating routines
• Coach store leaders, strengthen service culture, and improve team capability
• Modernize workflows through the use of systems, reporting, automation, and AI-enabled tools
• Partner closely with merchandising, e-commerce, finance, and other leaders to improve inventory accuracy, execution, and customer experience
Required Qualifications
• 8 to 10 or more years of progressive retail operations leadership experience
• Significant multi-unit retail operations experience
• Demonstrated omnichannel operations experience, including fulfillment and post-purchase service
• Experience improving processes, redesigning workflows, and building operating discipline
• Strong service culture, leadership, and team development skills
• Strong systems and digital fluency, including ERP, POS, reporting tools, automation, and AI-enabled tools
• Experience in upscale, premium, or service-intensive retail environments
• Ability to thrive in a lean, high-accountability environment and work primarily on-site
This is an opportunity for a highly capable operator to help modernize an important Princeton retail business, improve execution across channels, and bring stronger structure, service, and technology-enabled productivity to a growing organization.
