About This Position

Description:

Smith Brothers Insurance is seeking an experienced Automation & Integration Architect to serve as the company’s primary technical owner for AI-enabled automation and system integration. This role designs, builds, and integrates practical AI solutions that improve workflows, productivity, and client service across the enterprise. Operating in the early stages of AI adoption, this role focuses on designing and deploying secure, enterprise-grade AI agents and automations. This position partners closely with business leaders and operates within a strong governance model to ensure AI is scalable, compliant, and aligned to business outcomes.

Responsibilities & What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and implement AI-enabled automations across core business workflows.
  • Build and manage enterprise AI agents aligned to documented procedures.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and production-ready.
  • Establish technical standards, patterns, and guardrails for enterprise AI usage.
  • Translate documented processes into automation and agent logic.
  • Enable responsible, compliant use of our AI tools across teams.
  • Partner with leadership to prioritize AI use cases based on business value.
  • Define AI and automation architecture aligned with enterprise strategy.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and regulatory considerations are embedded by design.
  • Collaborate with the PMO on intake, prioritization, and delivery of AI initiatives.
  • Document solutions and create reusable components where appropriate.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to leadership team and business leaders.
  • Support change management by designing solutions that are explainable and usable.
  • Follow department and agency defined processes, procedures, and workflows.
  • Utilize the agency management system for daily activities, documentation, and assigned tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with agency processes, confidentiality standards, and quality metrics.
  • Work on projects and other work as assigned.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through internal learning and training.
  • Work effectively with all team members, provide backup support, and contribute to team collaboration.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities, You’ll Bring

  • 7–10 years of experience in automation, systems integration, and/or solution architecture (5+ years with strong hands-on delivery considered).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience building and deploying production grade workflow automation and system integrations.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI assistants or agent-based solutions (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to business workflows.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, APIs, data flows, authentication, and access controls.
  • Working knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance considerations related to AI.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and analysis.
  • Ability to translate documented business processes into secure, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Comfortable serving as a single technical owner within a structured, governed enterprise environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage non-technical leaders.
  • Experience with the Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Copilot, Power Platform, and/or Azure.
  • Experience supporting early-stage enterprise AI adoption or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with security, privacy, and compliance-by-design principles.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, automation tools, or enterprise architecture (preferred, not required).
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries a plus.
  • Organized and self-directed, able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, accountable, and willing to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Stay relevant/ahead on industry insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on additional work and projects assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with agency processes, confidentiality standards, and quality metrics.
