Position Description

This advanced position is responsible for performing skilled maintenance tasks. Able to perform all tasks without supervision. This position reports to the Production Manager. The Maintenance Manager has responsibility for: (i) overseeing and leading all maintenance-related procedures in the company - including all installations, repair, and upkeep of the organization's facilities; (ii) perform general maintenance and repairs for facility equipment; (iii) safely operating equipment according to manufacturer’s instruction; (iv) performing preventative maintenance as prescribed by the manufacturers; (v) managing and maintaining relationships with expert technicians, (vi) maintaining company Food Safety and Quality standards; (vii) reporting any and all safety concerns to management; and (viii) contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all quality standards set for maintenance operations at Poppy facilities.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Perform skilled maintenance tasks on production equipment and building.
  • Possess a basic understanding of all mechanical operations in the facility.
  • Maintain knowledge of contractors and when to ask for help.
  • Lead by example and use time wisely.
  • Understand and adhere to safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Alert management to potential quality or safety concerns.
  • Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Log information immediately and accurately.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Performs facility related duties as required or assigned.
    • Basic Welding
    • Basic Electrical service.
    • Basic fabrication.
    • Basic plumbing.
    • Support all departments when situations warrant and make connections between processes.
  • Attain and display the knowledge required to perform preventative maintenance on all Poppy equipment and to diagnose when contractors are required to perform work.
  • Schedules and/or performs repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Maintain an accurate record of maintenance requirements and actions.
  • Follow Food Safety & Quality procedures.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices policy throughout the production facility.
  • Follow SQF Food Safety policies relating to pest control, visitors, allergen management, and cleaning and sanitation.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+years of Maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Electrical systems aptitude a plus, including HMI, PLC & controls
  • Experience with rotary bagger and Form & fill bagging machines preferred.
  • Knowledge of proper and safe operation.
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to work well at a fast pace in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a food safe environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with outside contractors
  • Ability to manage service contract agreements with outside contractors
  • Ability to maintain spare parts inventory so that production interruptions are avoided.
  • Ability to keep workspace and spare parts clean and organized at all times.
  • Ability to explain equipment maintenance needs to Production Management
  • Promotes the culture and values of the company while maintaining a positive work environment
  • Works well with similar daily routines and tasks
  • Collaborates and communicates well with varied teams and stakeholders

Physical Demands

Extensive physical exertions which includes but not limited to:

  • Standing for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. as needed
  • Push or pull 160 1bs.
  • Repetitive bending, lifting, and hand/arm movements. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls.
  • May be required to work weekend and evening shifts.
  • Adherence to Poppy’s safety protocols.
  • Adherence to Poppy’s Employee Attendance Policy.
