Job Description

Job Title: Infrastructure Administrator

Location: Remote (with regular site visits)

Travel Requirement: Up to 10–15% (Domestic and occasional International – valid passport required)

Reports To: Sr. Infrastructure Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Infrastructure Administrator to support and maintain our enterprise IT infrastructure and networking environments across multiple locations. This role is focused exclusively on infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, cloud platforms, and security systems.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional who thrives in both remote and on-site environments and is comfortable traveling to support infrastructure deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts. This role requires someone who can take ownership of systems, drive improvements, and ensure high availability and performance across the organization.

This position also serves as a technical escalation point and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the IT Support team, providing guidance and advanced troubleshooting assistance for complex infrastructure and networking issues. Occasional out-of-hours work will be required to support maintenance windows, upgrades, incident response, and critical infrastructure changes.


Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Server Administration (50%)

· Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers across virtualized environments (Hyper-V, VMware)

· Manage and support enterprise storage solutions (HPE, Dell SAN, Synology)

· Administer Microsoft Azure infrastructure including virtual machines, storage, networking, and identity services

· Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions using Veeam

· Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity planning

· Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of infrastructure systems

· Ensure high availability, redundancy, and system resilience across environments

· Provide advanced technical support and serve as an escalation point for complex infrastructure-related issues

Network Administration (30%)

· Configure and maintain network infrastructure including switches, access points, and firewalls (Ubiquiti, Meraki, SonicWall)

· Support and maintain VPN connectivity between multiple locations

· Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, latency, and connectivity issues

· Work with ISPs and vendors for installations, upgrades, and issue resolution

· Maintain accurate network diagrams and documentation

· Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for networking and infrastructure technologies within the IT organization

On-Site Support & Travel (10–15%)

· Travel to company locations for infrastructure deployments, upgrades, and maintenance

· Perform on-site troubleshooting of servers, networking equipment, and connectivity issues

· Assist with new site setups, hardware installations, and network configurations

· Coordinate with local vendors and contractors as needed

· Ensure consistent infrastructure standards across all locations

IT Projects & Continuous Improvement (10%)

· Take ownership of infrastructure-related projects including upgrades, migrations, and system rollouts

· Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and modernization

· Assist in cloud migration and hybrid infrastructure initiatives

· Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices

· Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and scheduled infrastructure changes as needed

Required Qualifications

· 5–7 years of experience in infrastructure or systems administration (preferred)

· Strong experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware)

· Hands-on experience with backup and recovery solutions (Veeam preferred)

· Experience managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure

· Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs)

· Experience with firewalls and network security (SonicWall preferred)

· Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and network issues independently

· Strong documentation and organizational skills

· Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

· Experience serving as a technical escalation resource or SME for support teams

· Willingness and ability to travel up to 10–15%

· Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard business hours for maintenance and support activities

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with hybrid cloud environments (on-prem + Azure)

· Familiarity with Microsoft Intune or endpoint management tools

· Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and alerting systems

· Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell preferred)

· Experience supporting multi-site or distributed environments

· Data Center / Colocation (colo) management experience is a plus

Preferred Certifications

· Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

· Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) (preferred)

· ITIL Foundation (preferred)


Physical and Intellectual Requirements:

Manual dexterity for manipulating small items; regularly lift at least 50 pounds throughout each shift and to be able to lift 75 pounds on occasion. Able to handle standing, walking and sitting for 4+ hours with limited rest intervals; good eye-hand coordination; fair eyesight (with or without correction lenses); normal hearing in at least one ear (hearing range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz); ability to analyze situations, set priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; effective organizational skills; a commitment to continuous learning; an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
