As the Payroll-Focused HR Generalist, you will be the point person on payroll functions while supporting key HR activities for Tipmont — an electricity and fiber broadband cooperative serving eight counties in north central Indiana, as well as its business division, Wintek Business Solutions. You’ll ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and compliance, along with serving a key role in day-to-day HR operations.
Duties that intrigue you include:
- Processing payroll accurately and on schedule (weekly / biweekly / semi-monthly)
- Ensuring proper calculation of wages, overtime pay, bonuses and deductions
- Maintaining and auditing payroll records to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Managing timekeeping systems and resolving discrepancies
- Administering payroll taxes, filings and year-end processes (e.g., W-2s)
- Collaborating with finance / accounting for payroll reporting and reconciliation
- Handling employees’ payroll inquiries with promptness and professionalism
- Maintaining compliance with federal, state and local payroll laws and regulations
- Assisting with employee onboarding / offboarding processes
- Maintaining employee records and HRIS data
- Supporting benefits administration and handling employees’ benefit inquiries
- Assisting with recruiting coordination (e.g., job postings and scheduling interviews)
- Assisting with compliance and HR documentation
- Providing general HR support in enforcement of company policies

Required Qualifications / Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of payroll experience
- Computer skills in Excel, Word and Outlook
- Working knowledge of HR principles and employment laws
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, wage laws and compliance requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Associate degree
