The University Counseling Center (UCC) is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and aligned under the Wellness Team consisting of Campus Recreation, Student Health Services, Care and Resource Support, and Financial Wellness. Accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and American Psychological Association (APA), the UCC exists to ensure healthy and thriving lives for the University of Pittsburgh's diverse student population by providing crisis intervention, outreach, workshops, group, individual, and relationship therapy. The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified clinician to join the UCC as a Staff Clinician with generalist experience (additional training or experience with eating disorders, trauma, and/or substance use is welcomed). The Staff Clinician will provide direct and indirect services in the UCC including but not limited to individual, relationship, and group therapy; clinical consultation; outreach programming; and clinical supervision and training as assigned. The Staff Clinician will have the opportunity to serve on committees within and outside of the UCC.
Provides targeted, advanced-level, clinical counseling, psychotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation and/or behavioral health services addressing a range of mental health concerns for a diverse population of students/clients utilizing specialized techniques to foster development, remediate mental health problems, and promote positive mental health. Facilitates comprehensive assessments and treatments, referrals for hospitalizations, and/or case reviews.
Essential Functions
- Provides targeted, advanced-level clinical psychotherapy services for a range of mental health concerns, which may include trauma, disordered eating, and/or executive functioning concerns.
- Provides prevention, outreach, and crisis services, individual and group therapy, intake/triage services, and diagnostic assessments.
- Utilizes specialized techniques/interventions to foster student development, remediate mental health concerns, promote positive mental health and wellness, develop individualized treatment plans, and support academic success.
- Conducts comprehensive, strength-based, and evidence-based assessment and treatment.
- Facilitates referrals for specialized and/or higher levels of care as appropriate.
- Works with external faculty, staff, and offices, such as Disability Services, Student Health Services, and Care and Resource Support, to coordinate care, services, and treatment.
- Provides clinical back-up and coverage for other clinicians as needed.
- Writes clinical reports as directed.
- Keeps accurate and timely clinical documentation abiding by all compliance regulations.
- Participates in case reviews and on treatment teams.
- Provides clinical supervision.
